Girl Guides

Lyndale Greens Primary School has a funded Girl Guides program, operating within the school on a weekly basis.

The aim of Girl Guides is to help girls grow into confident, self-respecting and responsible community members. Girl Guides is a girls-only space, where girls can make new friends, make a difference and have fun. Whether a Guide is passionate about getting creative, having adventures or developing leadership skills, Girl Guides opens a world of possibilities. Guiding is girl-led, so the girls choose what they would like to explore at their unit meetings.

The Australian Guide Program lets each Guide explore her community in her own way. Girls are encouraged to work in small teams and learn by doing. Guides can complete challenges and work on badges by using the Guide Handbook for their age group and the relevant badge books. Girl Guides run events and camps where Guides from different places can meet up, gain leadership skills, and do activities. There are opportunities around Victoria, Australia and the world. Girl Guides Victoria is part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. With ten million members in 150 countries, Girl Guides is the world’s biggest girl gang!

The Lyndale Greens Girl Guides are an active unit operating within the school and the local Dandenong community. The unit:

  • go outdoor camping

  • plant native trees at our local ‘adopt a park’

  • make play dough for a local kindergarten

  • participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count

  • conduct ANZAC Day services

  • hold cake stalls on election days

  • participate in Clean Up Australia Day

  • have cook for bake sales

All this while developing leadership skills, and connecting to our school and local community along the way!
