Specialist Subjects

Languages - Indonesian

Learning languages in addition to English extends student’s literacy repertoires and their capacity to communicate. It strengthens student’s understanding of the nature of language, culture, and the processes of communication. Students acquire communication skills in Indonesian. They develop understanding about the role of language and culture in communication. Their reflections on language use and language learning are applied in other learning contexts.

Library

We have a well-resourced library where children can explore an extensive range of fiction and non-fiction books. We promote a love of reading and books. Our aim is to engage students in reading, not only to gain knowledge and understandings, but also to read for pleasure and relaxation. In library sessions students build their skills with researching information for projects, presentations and author studies and expand their knowledge of the world.

Physical Education and Sport

In Health and Physical Education, students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage satisfying relationships. The curriculum helps them to be resilient, and to make decisions and take actions to promote their health, safety and physical activity participation.

At Lyndale Greens Primary School students develop their skills in movement and coordination, participate in a variety of sports and build their fitness. They have opportunities to participate in Cross Country Events, Athletics, Gala Days (where they compete in sports against other schools) and after-school skill building activities. Lyndale Greens Primary School also offers a Prep – Year 6 swimming program.

Science

The Science curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop an understanding of important scientific concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, the contribution of science to our culture and society, and its applications in our lives.

Students at Lyndale Greens Primary School students have many opportunities to participate in science based extra- curricular activities such as Science Talent Search, John Monash Little Scientists-Big Science, Kids Teaching Kids and Marine Ambassadors. They have learnt about sustainable living through visits to CERES Community Environment Park.
